Cowboys Top Illinois

Wyoming Listed Over Notre Dame, Sailors Top Forward

Los Angeles, April 6 - (UP) -The blue book of basketball, the annual report of the Helms Athletic Foundation, today lists the University of Wyoming Cowboys as the number one college cage team of the nation.

Kenny Sailors, Wyoming captain, is listed as the All-American forward in the same report and big Milo Komenich, Cowboy center, is a second team selection.

The Helms report covers all college teams in the nation, including the great fives of Illinois and Notre Dame and flatly lists the team from Laramie, Wyo., as best in America this year.

The new honor came as most members of the skyrocket Wyoming team prepared to enter the armed services following their return home from a triumphant eastern tour. The Punchers won the NCAA title, defeating Gorgetown, and then climaxed their national cage glory with a victory over St. John's in the invitational playoff in New York.

Ranked with Sailors, on the Helms selection are such players as Bob Bishop of Washington State, Andy Philips of Illinois and George Senesky of Philadelphia's St. Joseph's. Harry Boykoff of St, John's is listed as center on the second team along with Komenich.

The new honor for Sailors, soon to join the Marines, climaxes a brilliant year for the little Wyoming playmaker. He was chosen also on the national AAU team.
